Your Bilingual Path to Becoming a Bus Operator
Are you interested in a rewarding career with great benefits, but haven’t mastered English yet? UTA’s Bilingual Path to a Bus Operator Career may be perfect for you. This 8-week ESL course offers you an in-person, English language learning course focused on public transit and customer service. Following successful completion, participants will be eligible to apply for full-time opportunities as Bus Operators at UTA.
ESL Trainee Program
- Start Date: March 4, 2024
- Days: Monday-Thursday
- Times: 8:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
- Hours/Week: 29 hours
- Attendance: 100% required
- Paid Training: $15.98/hour to start
- Location: UTA Depot District, 669 S 200 W, Salt Lake City
- Free Transit Pass: ride Bus, TRAX or FrontRunner to Work
Requirements
- English proficiency: CASAS level 4 or higher and taken over the last 6 months

- 21 years or older
- Utah Driver's License: Class D in English and held for 1 year
- Less than 2 Moving Violations in the past 3 years
- No Felonies or DUIs in the past 10 years
- Work Authorization
